School Plan 2021-2022

Arcadia Local Schools

School Plan for 2021-2022

Arcadia Local Schools plan to open in person this year with a focus on providing a quality, safe, educational environment.   We will continue to work with the Ohio Department of Health and the Hancock County Health Department to adjust safety procedures as necessary.  The school plans to start the school year with as much normalcy as possible, but realizes the need to be flexible as information becomes available.  As was the practice last year, our administration will be monitoring trends in the school, the Arcadia community, and the county. Please note, these plans are subject to change.

  • At school, students and staff may choose to wear a mask, but it is not required.
  • While on a school bus, students and employees are required to wear a mask.  This includes all trips before, during, and after school.

Social Distancing

  • We will make every practical effort to maintain a 3 feet distance, however this is not always possible due to class size.
  • Seating charts will be maintained in classrooms, the cafeteria, and other spaces.

  • We will make every effort to maintain the same cleaning/disinfecting practices established last school year in classrooms, hallways, gymnasiums, locker rooms, offices, buses, and the cafeteria.
  • There will be air purifiers in all classrooms.

Promoting Cleanliness/Health

  • We will encourage frequent handwashing/sanitation.
  • Any student or employee who exhibits symptoms of COVID, please notify the school, stay home, and follow the information provided in the links at the bottom of this document.
  • Water fountains will remain closed, but bottle fillers will be open.
  • We will not be screening temperatures when students arrive.  Please monitor this at home.

Quarantine/Contact Tracing

  • Please refer to the links at the bottom of this document to understand this is still a possibility.

  • All students will eat in the cafeteria.
  • Recess will remain the same as last year.
  • Physical Education will remain the same as last year.

Final Forms Explanation

Arcadia Local Schools Families,

This is a new process for our school district.   Your attention to the information below is required to make beginning of year information EASIER for all.

Arcadia Schools has partnered with FinalForms, an online forms and data management service. FinalForms allows you to complete and sign all annual enrollment and athletic participation forms for your students online.

FinalForms saves data from year-to-year and season-to-season, meaning that you will never need to enter the same information twice! (Only if you have a change in address, phone, etc)

If we have your email on file, you should have received an email from FinalForms instructing you to set up your parent account.  Then you will able to view the information that we currently have on your student(s) and make changes as necessary.  You will not be receiving the packet of forms at the beginning of the year as you normally do.  This takes the place of those!

If you don’t receive an email from FinalForms, the district may need to update your email. Please email your new email address to Mr. McKee at [email protected] along with your students name(s).

FinalForms also pre-populates information wherever possible, for each of your students, saving you time. Once you have completed your registration online, you will simply be asked to review and update your information at the beginning of each school year to verify the information is current and sign the forms.  You can also change information (address, phone, emergency medical, etc.) as it happens.

Your student(s), grades 7-12, will also be emailed (to their school email account) instructions to register for FinalForms and then can sign their sections of the forms as well.

Only ONE parent/guardian will need to register and use FinalForms. We will be communicating through your email for anything outstanding as well as special announcements. Please register at –  now and electronically complete ALL forms!

For grades 7-12:  If your student is in or will be in a sport this year, please indicate that on that students account.  All sports forms will then be available for you to complete. The actual sports physical paperwork should be handed in to the Athletic Director.

Thank you for your assistance in streamlining our paperwork processes at Arcadia Schools!

Arcadia Local Schools 5 Day School Week Starting Oct 12th

Arcadia Local Schools will be starting everyday instruction at school for all students starting Oct. 12th.  As we move forward our district will utilize local and area data to determine the type of instruction that occurs for Arcadia students.  There are several other county schools that will also be shifting to 4 or 5 days, all in over the next several weeks.  We are all working with the county health department to make this adjustment to provide a safe learning environment while increasing instructional time for students. The goal of this change is to base Arcadia’s instructional options on Arcadia’s data.  This will require the Arcadia Schools Community to continue making responsible decisions about keeping students home when they are sick and limiting exposure from outside our community.
Local trends and data that will be used in determining Arcadia’s instructional options include, but are not limited to:
  1. Positive test results for students and staff
  2. Number of quarantine staff and students and reason for quarantine
  3. Daily attendance and number of students out due to flu like symptoms (possible COVID)
  4. Millstream data
  5. Neighboring districts data
  6. County trends
  7. Local community trends
If we need to go to all online instruction, you will be given advanced notice using the phone system and the website before the change occurs.  This will allow students, staff and parents to prepare and plan for an initial shift to all online instruction to help break the cycle of spreading the illness.  Because COVID and Flu symptoms are very similar, and understanding that COVID can be asymptomatic, we feel that an online instructional option to stop the spread is the best option to reduce contact with other people.
Please keep in mind, with all our students here at the same time, it will be very difficult and sometimes even impossible to social distance.  Because of this, we will be forced to rely even more heavily on the need to wash hands, use sanitizer and wear a mask. We thank you for your vigilance leading up to this point, which has given us the opportunity to come back 5 days. We ask for your continued work to help reduce the possibility we will have to change from this model moving forward. We thank you in advance for all your support and encouragement of our young ones to do just that.
Thank you,
Arcadia School Re-Opening Team
